During the Christmas and holiday season, you are probably going to take a lot of photos. The happy times with families, or the parties with friends are really precious memories. After taking that many photos, you will find the storage space of your iPhone is getting smaller and smaller. You will have to delete the photos then. Before deleting those photos, you can make a backup of them, and then the photos can be saved on your computer.

1. Plug iPhone into computer via the USB cable. iTunes will launch automatically, if not, you can double-click the icon on your computer to start it.
2. Click “File > Device > Backup My iPhone” at the upper left corner of the window. Then iTunes will start creating a backup.
3. Sometimes iTunes will need your Apple ID to backup apps. Enter the Apple ID to finish the backup.
iTunes will back up contacts, reminders and your Camera Roll files and so on to your computer as a whole. You won’t be able to view the files, but you will get the files after restoring iPhone with iTunes.
You can also take advantage of iCloud to backup Christmas photos. The software is built in your iPhone with the iOS 5.0 or later, and you only need to tap Settings > iCloud > Backup My iPhone, and then the iCloud will back up the contents in your iPhone to the cloud over Wi-Fi connection. The contents which iCloud backs up include Camera Roll, contacts, and notes and so on. If you don’t want a category to be backed up, such as notes, you can tap the button beside “Notes” on your iPhone to “OFF”.
How to restore Christmas Photos from an iCloud backup on iPhone and iPad
1.After your iPhone or iPad powers on, you'll see a welcome screen, Slide your finger across the bottom where it says slide to set up.
2.Now choose your language from the choices presented to you.
3.Select the country or region you are in.
4.Now choose your wifi network and enter the password for it if there is one. If you don't have access to wifi, you can choose Use Cellular but keep in mind, only some things in your iCloud backup will be restored without wifi. Others won't be triggered until you're on wifi. Or you can choose to restore from an iTunes backup if you have access to one.
5.Now on the Location Services screen, choose whether you'd like to have location services on by default. Make sure you read the description of what location services are before deciding whether or not you'd like to enable or disable them. Keep in mind that certain apps like Maps need location services to operate properly.
6.On the next screen, tap on Restore from iCloud backup and enter your credentials when asked.
7.Now agree to the Terms and Conditions. You will be asked to verify that you agree to them a second time.
8.If you have iCloud backups, your iPhone will now show them. Tap on the backup name that you'd like to restore from.
Once your iCloud settings have been restored, your device may ask you to set up Touch ID and a passcode where supported, since Touch ID specifically is never saved in a backup.

When you accidentally deleted the photos and you can't find them on your iCloud backup, you can use a third-party tool to recover those photos. The tool I found on this post is very helpful.
